Given the flexibility of modern phones, their use could be addictive. Before, the features were not as extensive as the ones that newer models have. The use of mobile data also makes phones even more useful and addictive at the same time.
Some people spend hours a day browsing their phones, taking photos, using social media, researching, and many other things. Some families do not even talk to each other over dinner because everyone is busy using their phones.
You might be guilty of it too. You cannot control your use of the phone because it seems like everything that you need to do is possible with the help of the device. These are some tips to help you curb your addiction.
Create a schedule
You need to set a time for using the phone. When you reach your limit, you need to stop using it and go back to the other things that you need to do. You might also want to take breaks between use. If you feel like you have already been on your phone for several minutes, you need to pause and do something else.
Turn notifications off
The problem when you focus on your work is that you might stop because you receive notifications. Make sure that you turn off some of them and only keep the most important ones; otherwise, each time you receive a notification, you will stop what you are doing. The problem is when you open a message and read the content, it could take minutes before you stop using your device.
Keep the apps you usually use
When you see the apps that you always use like Facebook or Instagram, it is easy to feel tempted to open them. Therefore, you need to keep them hidden in your phone. You can use folders to tuck them away so that you will only use them when necessary.
Do not use your phone on your bed
You are telling your brain that your bed is not for sleeping when you do other things while you are there. Make sure that you do not eat or use your phone while in bed. The phone also releases blue light that signals to your brain that it is not yet time to sleep. When it is time to relax, you need to stop using your phone. Finish everything in another part of your home before going to your bedroom.
Delete some apps
You already have a lot on your phone, and it is time to let go of some of it. You already have several social media accounts. You also have tons of games. You can stop an addiction if you delete the unnecessary ones.
Phone addiction could adversely affect your health in many ways. The radiation produced by your phone is also another risk. You might get ill because of it. You need EMF protection products to block the radiation from damaging your body.
Be smart in using your phone and stay disciplined.
